Company Description
Genetic Circuit Therapeutics (GenCTX) is an early-stage biotechnology company building cancer therapies with synthetic biology. We combine protein engineering, genetic circuits, and pathway engineering to design therapeutics that are more selective and more potent than single-target approaches.
Role Description
The Scientist I/II, Cell Biology role is a full-time, on-site position in Somerville, MA. You will design and execute cell-based assays to evaluate gene circuit function, specificity, and efficacy in cancer cell models. The work involves culturing and maintaining cell lines, performing RNA or DNA -- LNP or Liposomal transfections and/or viral transductions, and analyzing cellular responses by plate reader, flow cytometry, microscopy, and molecular readouts.
Day to day, you will plan and execute experiments, keep detailed records, analyze and interpret data, and present results to cross-functional teams. You will work closely with founding team (CEO, CSO, COO) to refine therapeutic designs, troubleshoot experiments, and shape project strategy, while helping keep the lab safe and organized.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in cell biology, cancer biology, or a related field. Mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique are required.
- Hands-on experience with cell-based and plate-reader assays (viability, reporter, apoptosis, proliferation) and quantitative data analysis.
- Experience with flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, or Western blotting.
- Familiarity with molecular biology methods such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, cloning, and basic vector design.
- Proficiency with data analysis and documentation tools such as Excel, GraphPad Prism, or equivalents, and the ability to keep clear lab records.
- Ability to design experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, interpret results, and communicate findings clearly in writing and presentations.
- Master's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline. PhD is a plus.
