Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the mechanical execution of capital projects within a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment. This role offers full project ownership—from early design and feasibility studies through equipment installation, commissioning, and startup.
You will play a critical role in delivering projects across key production areas including mixing, preparation, tire building, curing, and post-cure operations. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys seeing projects come to life on the plant floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and execution of capital projects from concept through startup
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and technical schedules
- Coordinate engineering deliverables across cross-functional teams
- Manage equipment procurement, including RFQs, vendor selection, and supplier oversight
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of equipment on-site
- Support plant maintenance teams with training and troubleshooting of new systems
- Participate in safety, ergonomic, and risk assessments for new equipment
- Ensure successful project delivery including performance validation and plant acceptance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
- 4+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks)
- Proven experience leading projects or working in a project management capacity
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams and resolve issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial automation or robotics (Fanuc, ABB preferred)
- Background in equipment installation, commissioning, and plant startups
Work Schedule & Environment
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
- Occasional weekend or holiday work required during plant shutdowns and project installations
- Schedule may vary depending on project phase and startup needs
- Minimal travel (~5% domestic and occasional international)
