Job Overview
Founded in 1931, Nassif Oriental Rugs is a Cedar Rapids treasure that sells, appraises, restores, cleans and wholesales antique and vintage oriental rugs. We are looking for a skilled part-time seamstress to join our team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with:
- Whip stitching — clean, even hand-stitching for finishing edges
- Rug binding — securing and finishing rug edges to prevent fraying and extend the life of the piece
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong eye for detail and a steady hand who takes pride in quality craftsmanship. Prior experience with rugs, upholstery, or similar textile work is a plus, but we're happy to train the right candidate with solid sewing fundamentals.
Schedule: Flexible, part-time hours
Location: Hybrid - most rugs can be delivered to you and repaired in your location or when needed, some rugs may need to be repaired at our store located at 1239 1st Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA.
