St. Louis, Missouri
LPC / LCSW / LMFT preferred
LGBTQIA+ experience strongly preferred
Not every therapist wants to run a private practice.
Not every therapist wants agency life, either.
Some want something harder to find:
A place where you can do serious clinical work, keep growing as a therapist, build real relationships with clients, and still have enough life left over to be a person.
That is what we have been building at Change, Inc. for more than a decade.
Who We Are
Change, Inc. is a boutique counseling practice in St. Louis built around a simple idea: therapy works best when the therapist is supported enough to actually do good therapy.
We believe the person of the counselor matters. We believe relationships matter. We believe depth matters more than performance. We believe meaningful work and meaningful rest both matter. And we believe clinicians do their best work in environments that are inclusive, thoughtful, collegial, and built to last.
We are especially interested in therapists with experience serving LGBTQIA+ clients, as a significant portion of our referrals come from LGBTQIA+ individuals and other clients seeking affirming, relationally grounded care.
What This Job Is
This is a role for a therapist who wants the benefits of private practice without having to build one alone.
You bring your clinical skill, steadiness, and willingness to keep growing.
We provide the referral stream, infrastructure, consultation, support, and community.
This role is designed for clinicians who want:
- a strong and steadily built caseload
- a schedule that is full but sustainable
- real clinical community instead of professional isolation
- room to deepen their craft over time
- less bureaucracy and less nonsense
- a practice that values both excellence and humanity
What Your Work Will Feel Like
You will spend most of your energy doing therapy and being in supportive supervision.
Not chasing referrals.
Not managing a business.
Not drowning in organizational sprawl.
Our clinicians work a concentrated clinical schedule and are able to build toward a strong caseload over time. The goal is not to squeeze the maximum possible labor out of therapists. The goal is to create a structure in which talented clinicians can do excellent work for years.
If your ideal professional life includes depth, steadiness, and enough breathing room to stay connected to yourself, this role may fit.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for therapists who are:
- grounded, relational, and clinically mature
- affirming and experienced in working with LGBTQIA+ clients
- more interested in doing good therapy than in looking impressive
- open to supervision, feedback, and continued development
- capable of building strong long-term therapeutic relationships
- drawn to a team that values authenticity, accountability, and growth
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, MFT, or related field
- 2+ years of counseling experience preferred
- Licensure preferred: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or similar
- Strong experience with LGBTQIA+ clients strongly preferred
- Comfort working in person, with some flexibility for virtual work depending on fit and role
What We Offer
- A built referral base and support in growing your caseload
- A schedule designed around sustainability
- Clinical supervision and ongoing consultation
- In-house professional development and peer learning
- Continuing education support
- Health insurance reimbursement
- Paid shared professional experiences, including conference attendance
- A team culture that genuinely values community
- Opportunity for long-term fit, growth, and increased compensation over time
Compensation
Compensation depends on experience, licensure, and stage of growth within the practice. Early years are structured to support caseload development, with meaningful upside as clinicians become established.
Why Someone Would Choose This Role
Because they are tired of environments that ask therapists to burn out and call it dedication.
Because they want a caseload, but not a grind.
Because they want to keep becoming a better therapist.
Because they want their colleagues to actually know them.
Because they want to do this work in a place where diversity, depth, and humanity are not side notes.
