POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensures the success and profitability of the company by implementing and maintaining an effective quality assurance program. Provides leadership to a qualified, motivated workforce; and, ensures complete customer satisfaction.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Reviews, understands, interprets and communicates, corporate vision, mission, strategies and goals, to all departmental personnel
· Requires a hands-on attitude that includes working directly with product inspection or testing when required
· Builds strong sense of teamwork and purpose within and outside the department
· Maintains robust working relationships with other departments
· Ensures departmental compliance to all corporate policies and procedures
· Ensures quality standards are met through the maintenance and use of the ISO 9000 Quality System and other manufacturing support tools
· Interfaces directly with customers and/or Customer Service to ensure that the customer is completely informed about the status of any quality excursions.
· Ensures appropriate resources (work instructions, measuring equipment, etc.) are available for departmental personnel to perform their jobs well
· Maintains open and frequent communications with internal customers and suppliers to ensure smooth flow of work through the department
· Participates in all employee meetings, production meetings and other meetings to promote good communication throughout the company
· Minimizes wastes in materials, manpower, equipment and other resources
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Operations or related technical field; with seven to ten years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Seven to ten years’ experience in progressive quality and quality engineering.
· Three to five years’ previous management experience.
· Thorough knowledge of print reading and geometric and tolerancing.
· Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems is essential.
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required.
CRITICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· High level of technical competence in all aspects of quality assessment and corrective action including metrology using CMM inspection, SPC, capability studies, probability and root cause analysis, problem solving and quality engineering as it pertains to sheet metal fabrication, machining, painting, welding and secondary cleaning processes.
· Working knowledge of outside finishing processes.
· General knowledge of materials, machines and tooling required for sheet metal and machining processes.
· Ability to build a strong team able to meet performance goals.
· Ability to positively influence others and gain commitment to meet performance goals within other departments.
· Ability to make sound decisions based on technical data.
· Ability to develop extensive knowledge of the types of parts manufactured, and the capabilities of the department.
