There is a full-time lead cook – kitchen manager position available at a licensed Assisted Living Facility in Des Moines, Iowa. The position would be ideal for a person who has an interest in working with the elderly and utilizing culinary skills. A Servsafe Certification is preferred or the candidate must have the willingness to obtain the certification. The kitchen is well appointed and the job is very structured. The position offers a stable and low-key work environment with ample training and administrative support. The employee would work under the supervision of the facility administrator and the corporate Culinary Director.
LEAD COOK/KITCHEN MANAGER – SENIOR LIVING FACILITY

· This position will be responsible for cooking lunch and dinner in a licensed commercial kitchen in a senior living facility.
· This position is responsible for using predetermined, approved menus, associated ingredient designations and advance census enrollments in the process of meal preparation and food ordering.
· This position is responsible for establishing a dining rapport with the resident population and building the dining census.
· This position is responsible for managing assigned dietary aides.
Primary Duties:
· Meal preparation for two meals and determination of staffing requirements.
· Ordering food and managing inventory.
· Plating food, coordination of clearing and cleaning after meal service.
· Managing dietary staff.
· Managing food service budget through increased meal participation, controlling food costs and managing staffing levels.
· Coordination of kitchen operations in conjunction with the culinary director and the facility administrator.
Education/Training/Experience:
· Experience in food service industry – cooking.
· Servsafe certification preferred or the willingness to obtain the ServSafe certification.
Skills and Abilities:
· Applicant should have demonstrated analytic skills for meal preparation and food ordering. Interpersonal skills for establishing rapport with residents and managing dietary aides and working with supervisors.
