LCMS Tech
JOB SUMMARY
The LCMS Tech is responsible for the application of technical knowledge to toxicology testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem-solving using the Beckman AU and ABSciex LCMS and managing the laboratory. The LCMS Tech is also responsible for assisting with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agency and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
MUST KNOW HOW TO OPERATE THE LCMS AQUIPMENT
- Must have at least 1 year experience toxicology testing with an ABSciex LCMS and Beckman AU
- Bachelor’s degree in a science field from an accredited college or university required
- ASCP/AMT or equivalent Medical Technologist certification desired but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory leadership or supervisory role
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Technological proficiency; ability to learn new hardware and software quickly with minimal oversight
- Knowledge with Electronic Medical Records a +
- Ability to use judgment to solve complex problems
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform the duties of a Medical Tech and manage the laboratory.
- Actively participate in problem-solving activities within the chemistry department, using an advanced level of decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of all computer systems used in the department.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of theory and clinical relevance testing.
- Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
- Establish and maintain systems for the access, identification, transport, storage, and disposal of specimens adhering to internal and external policies and regulations including custodial responsibilities.
- Design and/or implement a quality assurance program to monitor variables which affect the quality of clinical laboratory services.
- Establish and evaluate the preventative maintenance program for instrumentation and equipment.
- Establish and evaluate safety measures in accordance with internal and external regulations.
- Perform other related duties inherent to this position as assigned.
