Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced designer who is excited to align with our aesthetic as they develop residential remodeling projects for clients. A true designer - not decorator! - who can do everything from draft intuitive floorplans to nail selections that the homeonwer will love. Scovell prides itself in designing thoughtful high-end cabinetry and millwork so a background working in older, traditional homes is critical. This position is a blend of artistic talent and technical precision.

- Communicate across all departments and with clients in an effective, yet friendly manner

Floorplan & Elevation Conceptualization
- Prepare schematics
- Collaborate on floorplan revision ideas and feedback
- Based on clients’ taste, propose elevations
Design Scope
- Develop Design boards
- Coordinate with Draftsman on elevations and renderings
- Work with the Design Account Manager + Estimator to determine what should be included in the Preliminary Scope
- Direct the development of the cabinet plan
- Attend Trade Walk to answer questions regarding the overall design scope
Selections + Selection Pricing
- Procures samples and attends showroom meetings
- Propose selections to the client, incorporating specs and pricing into the bid
- Participate in Design Critiques to review in progress work
Assisting with Drafting
- Collaborate with the draftsman to ensure drawing accuracy + design intent
- Assist with drafting tasks in Chief Architect to support the design + documentation process:
- Revising floorplans + internal elevations based on design changes or client feedback
- Updating finishes (wallpaper, light fixture color, tile, etc.)
- Electrical plans
- Editing room labels, adding/removing dimensions, adding callouts + notes
Design Execution in Construction
- Attend milestone meetings during construction to ensure the design is being properly executed
- Assist in the electrical walkthrough to verify placement of fixtures, electrical devices and switches
- Prepare tile dry lays prior to installation
- Sample paint colors in the final phase of construction
- Quality check active projects
Requirements
- Must be proficient in Chief Architect, Revit or similar
- 4+ years of experience in remodeling or new construction residential projects
- Degree in design, or related field
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
