Description:
General Purpose
The International Student Advisor/DSO executes routine SEVIS operations and provides advising to the international student population.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Review international student enrollment applications ensuring all federal requirements are met to issue form I-20s.
- Issue and distribute form I-20s for initial and active records quarterly.
- Register students who have met enrollment requirements each term in SEVIS.
- Provide F-1 immigration advising and personal advising on issues beyond F-1 status related matters.
- Issue verification letters such as good standing letter, enrollment verification letter, etc.
- Review and authorize benefits request such as travel endorsement.
- Provide student resources regarding medical insurance, housing, mental health care, translation, etc.
- Conduct weekly student checks ins with emails and calls.
- Maintain data reports on enrollment, USCIS applications, and operational statistics.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High accuracy skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively.
Education and/or Experience
- Knowledge of foreign language preferred.
- Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- US Citizen or permanent resident as required by Federal Regulations.
- One year experience in international admissions, higher education, or internal student services are required.
Physical Demands
- Lift 40 lbs. maximum, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time; climb stairs.
