The DHM Vac Truck Operator is a full-time position responsible for completing hydro excavation and line cleaning processes. The driver operates the Vac Truck and other machines used in construction, on our projects for commercial and residential job sites.
- Operate the Vac Truck on assigned job sites based on daily assignments and schedule, following directives provided by the site supervisor
- Responsible for completing hydro excavating projects including, but not limited to, subsurface utility line exposure, utility potholing, debris and blockage removal, slot trenching, line cleaning and general vacuum digging
- Understands the capabilities, uses, functions, and limitations of the Vac Truck and televising and locating units
- Operates the Vac Truck in a safe and professional manner and follows all DHM Safety regulations, OSHA regulations, and state or local regulations
- Knowledge of basic underground utilities is required
- Skilled in operating of construction heavy equipment and machines proficiently and safely
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Mechanical ability with knowledge and experience with heavy vehicle and equipment operation, repair, and maintenance
- Valid Class A or B CDL with a Tanker Endorsement
- Valid, current DOT physical with Medical Card
- Must have a clean driving record
- Ability to oversee the work of a Vac Truck Laborer to ensure the work is done correctly
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving skills and abilities
- 2 years of Vac Truck experience is preferred
- Able to work alone as well as in a team environment
- This is considered a Safety-Sensitive position
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs., and frequently climb, sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and balance yourself
- Must be able to pass a DOT drug and alcohol screening test, a pre-employment physical assessment, an MVR check, and background check
