SUMMARY: The Intake Specialist is responsible for working with families requesting services through our programs who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Conduct phone screenings to determine eligibility for services for families in Hillsborough County
- Complete in-person Intake paperwork for program enrollment
- Enroll families in the appropriate program and enter case notes in UNITY (database system)
- Follow agency procedures and utilize standardized templates in communication with families.
- Assess and evaluate need for immediate crisis intervention
- Provide ongoing support to assigned families and connect them with community resources, housing and supportive services, and be a staff contact for questions or guidance as needs arise.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community providers and educate on Dawning Family Services program criterium
- Maintain client files and data quality standards
- Attend community events for outreach and networking
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to ensure program and agency goals are met
- Adhere strictly to policies which ensure participant confidentiality.
- Contribute to shared team responsibilities, including unloading donations and organization.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or other related fields from an accredited institution required. Associate’s degree considered with relevant experience.
- Experience with data entry, scheduling appointments, interviewing, advocacy and mediation skills
- Strong communication, organizations skills, compassion, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and ability in working with the diversity of the agency’s population, including but not limited to, clients, staff, community partners, and board members.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft 365 web-based applications and using internet search engines and other online research tools.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects. Ability to regularly move materials weighing up to 5 pounds and occasionally move materials weighing up to 20 pounds. - Professional, self-directed, high-energy can-do attitude, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders.
- Some local travel required. Must have a reliable car, active auto insurance, and valid Florida driver’s license.

Pay: $21.10 per hour
