Position Summary
The Head Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms and public areas meet cleanliness, presentation, and quality standards. This role leads by example, assisting with room turnover, supporting housekeeping staff, helping in laundry operations as needed, and conducting room inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations
- Strip beds and prepare rooms for cleaning and turnover.
- Assist housekeepers with making beds and completing guest rooms efficiently.
- Support room cleaning activities during busy periods or staffing shortages.
- Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to company standards.
- Replenish room amenities, linens, and supplies as needed.
Team Support & Supervision
- Provide guidance, training, and support to housekeeping staff.
- Monitor daily workloads and assist team members in meeting productivity goals.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
- Communicate housekeeping priorities and special requests to staff.
Room Inspections & Quality Control
- Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance standards are met.
- Identify and address deficiencies before rooms are released for occupancy.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Laundry Assistance
- Assist in laundry operations when needed, including washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens and towels.
- Monitor linen inventory and report shortages.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain housekeeping records and reports as required.
- Coordinate with front desk and maintenance departments regarding room status and guest needs.
- Assist with inventory management of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, products, and safety standards.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull housekeeping supplies and linens.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
