About Anthem Chapel
Anthem Chapel is a church plant in Goleta, California that started in 2018. Our vision is to proclaim the name of Jesus, so that all would look to Him and be saved. We have a desire to learn how to love and live like Jesus. We are a people that have experienced an allegiance shift. Our declaration is: Jesus is our Anthem! Position Summary
The Junior High Director/Pastor is a relational leader and disciple-maker who builds and leads a thriving ministry for 7th–8th grade students. This leader empowers volunteers, equips parents, and creates environments where students encounter Jesus, build meaningful friendships, and take steps to live out their faith. Partnering with the NextGen Pastor, and the High School Pastor, the Junior High Director/Pastor helps shape a discipleship strategy that inspires students to gather in worship, grow in groups, and go serve the world.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership, Motivation & Discipleship
- Shepherd students and volunteer leaders with intentional check-ins and care.
- Generate and deliver biblical teaching.
- Lead strategic direction for ministry areas in alignment with the church; own day-to-day operations for the youth ministry.
- Model “above reproach” character; set the spiritual tone for students and volunteers as a visible example.
Volunteer & Team Development
- Invest deeply in adult leaders; build and retain a strong volunteer team that multiplies care and presence on campuses and at student activities.
- Equip students to serve (worship, tech, announcements, teaching)
- Coordinate weekly programming rhythms (leader huddles, countdown/service flow) and keep teams aligned.
Parent & Family Partnerships
- Foster a strong partnership with parents by providing resources, encouragement, and support to help them in their role as the primary spiritual leaders in their teenager's life.
- Lead key faith milestones such as baptisms, and other significant moments in students' faith development. Provide intentional leadership for families navigating these milestones.
Evangelism & Community Engagement
- Cultivate relationships with local schools (e.g., Goleta Valley, La Colina, Providence) and engage through chapels and campus presence.
- Develop and implement a strategy to reach local students who are not yet connected with the church, building relationships and providing opportunities for outreach through events, small groups, and social gatherings.
- Cultivate relationships and develop partnerships in the local community to provide service opportunities for students to engage with their community and live out their faith in practical ways.
- Plan, organize, and lead youth mission trips ( local, global) that foster spiritual growth, service, and leadership development among students.
Event Planning & Execution
- Lead, plan, and execute engaging youth events, including social gatherings, and outreach events. Ensure these events are both fun and spiritually enriching, helping students grow in their faith and connect with one another. These events would include retreats such as summer and winter camps.
- Collaborate with other youth groups in our area to plan and execute large significant outreaches that draw students into deeper community and discipleship.

- Supports and models the beliefs, values, and mission of the church.
- Active participant in the life of the church.
- Demonstrate Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity.
- Comfortable leading within Anthem Chapel’s discipleship framework (Love God, Experience Community, Answer God’s call, Difference Maker) and helping students identify clear next steps.
- Demonstrated ability to teach Scripture clearly and provide pastoral counsel to students.
- A heart that deeply desires to serve the Lord
- Maintains a high standard of personal holiness, living as a consistent and Christlike example for youth to follow, and conducting oneself above reproach at all times.
- If married, demonstrates an unwavering love for their spouse through both words and actions. The spouse should be supportive of the individual's calling and ministry, and both should be committed to ongoing spiritual growth.
Professional Qualifications
- 3-5 years of youth ministry experience.
- Proven experience recruiting, training, and empowering volunteers and student leaders in a small-to-mid size youth context.
- Shows consistency and reliability—sets and upholds clear standards for leader commitment.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and lead through vision rather than just task management.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and provide excellent customer service
- Read, write, spell, and communicate clearly in English
- Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- Well-developed motivational skill set and demonstrated servant leadership qualities
- Self-motivated, flexible and goal oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Teachable and approachable; listens well before speaking and demonstrates loyalty to Anthem Chapel

Compensation
- $55,000 - $70,000/ year DOE
- Blue Shield Gold Health Care
- (Anthem contribution 80% of premium/Employee pre-tax contribution 20%)
- 403 (b) Matched to 5% of Gross
