Overview
Akos MD is expanding our Value-Based Care (VBC) at Home clinical team across Arizona. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Medical Assistant who is passionate about delivering exceptional care where patients need it most – in their homes. As a Medical Assistant, you will work alongside our Nurse Practitioners and inter-disciplinary care team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to Medicare/Medicaid and other value-based care members. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while helping improve health outcomes, reduce unnecessary emergency department visits and hospitalizations, and support patients in living healthier, more independent lives. Most patient encounters take place in the patient’s home.
What You'll Do
- Accompany Nurse Practitioners during in-home patient visits.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, height, weight, and other clinical measurements.
- Perform point-of-care testing as appropriate.
- Review medications and assist with medication reconciliation.
- Document patient information accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and diagnostic testing.
- Ensure all clinical supplies and equipment are stocked, maintained, and ready for daily visits.
- Communicate effectively with providers, care coordinators, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Travel throughout assigned Arizona service areas.
- Telehealth Scheduling for IHRAs with provider.
Qualifications Required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or NCMA).
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics, or home health preferred.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with reliable transportation and auto insurance.
- Ability to travel daily throughout assigned territory.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and mobile technology.
- Spanish Language Fluency.
