Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, enjoys working out,and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to a verbal young adult with Autism in the Philadelphia area
Small caseload. One-on-one support. Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life while helping a young adult build independence and community connections.
This individual enjoys video games, football, technology, movies, and community activities. He is working toward greater independence, community participation, daily living skills, and future employment goals.
The ideal DSP will provide structure, encouragement, and step-by-step support while helping him build confidence and independence in everyday life.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support in the home and community
- Assist with daily living and independent living skills
- Support community participation and recreational activities
- Assist with building routines, organization, and time management skills
- Help develop household management and life skills
- Support goal achievement and increased independence
- Encourage social engagement and healthy community involvement
- Assist with transportation to community activities and appointments as needed
- Complete required service documentation and progress notes
- Maintain professional communication with family and agency staff
- Follow all ODP regulations, agency policies, and individual support plans
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances
- Ability to complete all required ODP training
Preferred
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Experience in human services, behavioral health, caregiving, education, or social services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
