Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive music curricula tailored to middle school students, incorporating elements of music theory, performance techniques, and ensemble skills.
- Lead rehearsals for band performances, ensuring students improve their technical skills and musical understanding through active instruction and constructive feedback.
- Plan and organize concerts, competitions, and community events that showcase student talent and foster school spirit.
- Mentor students individually and in groups, providing guidance on musical growth, academic progress, and personal development.
- Integrate learning technology into lessons to enhance engagement and facilitate diverse learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, curriculum development, and school-wide activities to promote a well-rounded educational experience.
- Maintain classroom management standards that foster respect, focus, and a positive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications
- Proven classroom experience working with middle school students in a music education setting.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, including proficiency in reading sheet music and understanding concepts such as trigonometry applied to sound waves or acoustics is a plus.
- Experience in curriculum development aligned with state standards and AP style guidelines for educational content.
- Excellent communication skills for public speaking, mentoring, and collaborating with staff and parents.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diversity.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools used in modern classrooms to enhance instruction.
- Background in teaching physical education or sports coaching is advantageous for integrating movement into musical activities.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures related to arts education and experience with literacy education strategies to support diverse learners.
- Demonstrated skills in proofreading, copy editing, writing skills, and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style for educational materials.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
