Major Responsibilities:
Oversee the diagnostic, repair, and preventative maintenance of specialized scrap equipment (e.g., Sennebogen, Liebherr, CAT) including material handlers, wheel loaders, excavators with shears/grapples, and stationary balers.
Team Leadership: Supervise a small team of technicians, assigning daily tasks, providing technical mentorship, and ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Hydraulic & Electrical Expertise: Diagnose complex hydraulic circuits and electrical systems—the "brains and veins" of our heavy metal-movers.
Operational Safety: Enforce strict OSHA and yard-specific safety protocols. In a scrap yard, "Safety First" isn't a slogan; it's a survival requirement.
Inventory & Vendor Management: Track parts inventory, manage service budgets, and coordinate with external vendors for major specialized repairs.
Welding & Fabrication: Perform structural repairs and reinforcements on buckets, grapples, and shears using stick or MIG welding.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in heavy equipment repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or "Lead" role.
Technical Knowledge: Deep proficiency in diesel engines (Tier 4 Final), advanced hydraulics, and CAN-bus electrical systems.
The "Scrap" Factor: Prior experience in a scrap yard, demolition, or mining environment is highly preferred. You must be comfortable working in dusty, muddy, and loud outdoor conditions.
Certifications: ASE Medium/Heavy Truck or manufacturer-specific certifications (CAT, Komatsu, etc.) are a significant plus.
Tools: Must possess a comprehensive set of personal tools (specialized heavy-duty tools provided by the company).
