We are a small wholesale food distributor serving the Southern California area. We are looking for a box truck driver to transport restaurant food ingredients and supplies in a safe and timely manner. Driver responsibilities include pre-route vehicle maintenance checks, loading your own route's pallets with a forklift, unloading cargo with hand truck, and communicating with office. You should be ready to be active and to move hundreds of cases of produce/meat/supplies.
There will be lots of overtime opportunities.
Ultimately, you will help us increase customer satisfaction, making sure clients depend on us for their restaurant needs. To be considered for this role, you should have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no traffic violations.
Responsibilities
- Follow assigned route
- Loading of cargo into truck with forklift
- Unloading cargo wherever customer needs it
- Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
- Ensure truck is in good condition before going on your route
- Retrieving items from stock that packers may have missed
- Communicate with office for any returns or problems
- Assist with warehouse duties after finished with deliveries if needed
- Occasionally pick and palletize your own orders if needed
Skills
- Proven experience as a Driver
- A valid driver’s license
- A clean driving record
- Hand truck and pallet jack skills (can be trained)
- Ability to use truck ramp with loaded hand truck
- Familiarity with GPS devices
- Ability to lift up to 100 LBS
- A polite and professional disposition
- Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
- Chinese speaking a plus but not necessary
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday to Saturday (Part-time available)
- 5 days
- Start: 9:00 AM
- End: varies (some days early some days late)
