Job Title: Mechanical Technician (Pipefitter)
Reports To: Field Service Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
This position must be competent and skilled in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems, pipefitting and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their properties is essential. Capable of assisting with other duties related to the installation and service of boiler room applications. This position will work to accommodate business goals while setting and maintaining a culture of Customers, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence (C.I.T.E.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each of the primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
1. Run piping processes that are specific to each project requirement.
2. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues with boiler systems.
3. Installs, repairs, and maintains steam, heat, water, gas, and other boiler mechanical systems.
4. Assists with the installation, repair or replacement of steam lines, hot and cold-water lines, building heating systems, valves, traps, backflow prevention devices and pipes, tube repairs and tube leaks.
- Perform general boiler and other mechanical work, including take-offs and pipefitting for all aspects of boiler and piping projects (including copper pipe, threaded pipe and pro press); show willingness to learn and assist in all different types of jobs.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting with conduit and wiring.
7. Assist with routine inspection and maintenance of building system components.
- Perform boiler annual maintenances following the OEM and Patriot process for each boiler.
9. Ensuring adherence to project plans and safety guidelines.
- Work alongside other boiler technicians to install boiler equipment.
11. Ensuring adherence to project plans and safety guidelines.
- May operate forklift and other heavy machinery.
13. Report all activity in the BuildOps app as well as in any future additional customer management system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures proper care, safety and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
2. Attend any necessary on-site job meeting.
3. Be approachable, professional, respectful, and helpful.
4. Communicate any issues or unforeseen obstacles encountered on job site to Patriot PM and/or Field Manager immediately.
5. Consistently behave in accordance with the core values of Patriot Boiler.
Qualifications / Education / Skills and Experience:
1. Three (3) years or more experience in the field of mechanical systems, pipefitting, industrial boilers and/or piping systems is preferred.
2. Skill and knowledge of the mechanical operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, and other plumbing components preferred.
3. Should be capable of fitting, piping work, rigging, and other tasks.
4. Operate equipment and hand tools with proficiency.
5. Adhere to all established company and industrial safety expectations and procedures are required.
- The ability to read and understand all engineering documentation is required.
- Must possess the ability to communicate and effectively deal with all levels of staff and customers.
- Travel in state is rare but may be occasionally required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment, including ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Also, it requires frequent bending and lifting, standing and walking over uneven terrain or in confined spaces, and safely climbing ladders. Candidates must be capable of working in confined spaces (typical boiler manway access is 11’ 15’).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odors, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
