We are a locally-owned, boutique-style private optometry practice established in 2019 in New Braunfels. Our practice is dedicated to personalized care and exceptional service for every patient. We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with our patients and offering a curated selection of unique, high-quality eyewear you won't find in big box stores. We are looking for a personable, highly motivated, and energetic candidate to join our friendly work family!
Pay: $18 to $23 per hour, dependent on optical experience, skill sets, and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Help create a warm and exceptional boutique experience for all patients
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear based on their prescription, lifestyle, and personal style, with honest, pressure-free recommendations
- Take accurate measurements (PD, seg height) and perform fittings, adjustments, and repairs to ensure proper fit and comfort
- Collaborate with the doctor to interpret prescriptions and recommend lens options (progressives, coatings, specialty lenses)
- Quote and apply vision plan benefits (VSP and EyeMed) so patients know exact out-of-pocket costs
- Order, verify, and dispense eyewear; educate patients on proper eyewear care
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, treating every patient inquiry with utmost importance
- Help manage the frame board: inventory, new styles, and vendor reps
- Stay current on eyewear trends and optical technology
Skills:
- Optical dispensing experience strongly preferred and reflected in pay; we will train a motivated candidate with strong retail or healthcare customer service experience
- ABO certification preferred (and reflected in pay); NCLE a plus
- Excellent sales skills with the ability to engage patients effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of optical equipment and processes, including lens types and frame materials
- Experience quoting VSP and/or EyeMed benefits strongly preferred
- An interest in fashion, trends, and health care is a plus

We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated to grow the practice and grow with the practice, and who are willing to cross-train across clinical, administrative, and optical roles.
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
