Minimum Qualifications
- A.A., A.S. degree and one year of experience within the last 10 years, OR H.S. education or equivalent and 5 years full-time acceptable experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years.
- HT (ASCP) or ASCP eligible OR five years of full time experience in the last 10 years
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides, for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s).
2. Focusing on Skin/Derm, IHC, Frozen section and grossing.
3. Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
4. Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
5. Ensure proper tissue processing.
5. Embed processed tissue in paraffin.
6. Perform microtomy of embedded tissue.
7. Under general supervision, perform special stains under approval of/at discretion of Laboratory Manager/Supervisor.
8. Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
9. Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
10. Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures.
11. Perform special stain procedures.
12. May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures.
13. May perform IHC testing.
14. Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
15. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures.
16. Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies, and document all quality control activities.
17. Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
18. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, and CLIA regulations.
19. Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
20. Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Pay: $25.00 - $37.00 per hour
