Primary Objective:
Provide support services for the shelter residents and manage the shelter during the night.
Schedule:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Essential Functions:
- Provide support to shelter residents utilizing active listening skills and supporting their choices.
- Manage shelter operations during evening hours.
- Guide residents in fulfilling household responsibilities using a supportive, educational approach and assist them in developing skills which will promote independent living.
- Restock shelter supplies necessary for household operations.
- Maintain the security of the shelter.
- Provide documentation in the residents' case files.
- Responsible for coverage during emergency absences.
- Attend twelve (12) hours of Victim Service Provider (VSP) training each year to remain in compliance and active status as a VSP.
- Input direct service and collateral time into the Organization’s client database management system according to policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in human services or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the human services field, preferably working with women and children in crisis situations.
- Ability to relate to individuals and groups on a non-judgmental, supportive basis, addressing a wide range of problems.
- Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations on an independent basis.
- Understanding intimate partner violence and its effect on survivors and their children.
- Ability to manage emergency and crisis situations on an independent basis.
- Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license, a vehicle to be used for work-related travel, and vehicle insurance.
