Florida Medical Pain Management is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our St. Petersburg office. Our practice and physicians specialize in Interventional Pain Management. We believe this multidisciplinary approach targets the root causes of chronic and acute pain.
Overall, the Medical Assistant will provide care and support to patients under the direction of the physician and/or APRN. They will also contribute greatly to the management of medical records and documentation of patient-focused care.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for the practitioner
- Provide patient mobility assistance (as needed)
- Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information i.e. height, weight, drug allergies, and presenting problems
- Verify current medications with patients and update information each visit
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications (as needed)
- Document, scan, and obtain files pertaining to medical history in EHR system
- Document current procedures and interactions in EHR system
- Ensure all lab studies and necessary paperwork are available for procedures
- Demonstrate awareness of patients’ concerns and a willingness to address them
- Ensure patients’ safety and comfort during the visit
- Observe pertinent changes in symptoms of patients’ condition and take appropriate action i.e. report to the physician
- Educate patients on the respective procedure they are undergoing and obtain required consent forms signed by patients
- Assist providers in surgical procedures and general tasks
- Clean, prepare, and restock patient exam rooms; anticipate practitioner's need for medications, supplies, and equipment and plan accordingly
- Dispose of contaminated items according to the facility Exposure Control Plan
- Actively participate in continuing education, required meetings, and committees as requested
- Initiate communication with the Front Office Manager immediately in areas that need to be addressed, require feedback, and follow-up
- Check telephone messages regularly and return all calls by the day’s end
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge in current technologies and our EMR Greenway (preferred)
- English - Spanish or Multilingual (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an MA (preferred)
Licensure/Certification:
- Active/Certified Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)
- ACLS Certification
- BLS Certification
