Key Responsibilities
- Assign duties to nurses and aides based on resident acuity and skill mix.
- Manage shift call-offs, adjust staffing for upcoming shifts, and ensure adequate coverage.
- Assist with orientation, mentor new nurses, and provide ongoing training and performance feedback.
- Review resident conditions, perform comprehensive assessments, and intervene during acute medical emergencies.
- Supervise the administration of medications and ensure complex treatments are properly executed and documented.
- Act as the main clinical resource on the floor, communicating changes in condition to physicians, therapists, and families.
- Ensure nursing practices comply with state and federal regulations (e.g., AHCA in Florida), as well as facility policies.
- Monitor patient charts, review shift reports, and audit medical records to ensure accurate, timely entries.
- Enforce safety and infection control protocols throughout the facility.
