Position Summary
Simple & Serene Detox & Recovery is seeking compassionate, dependable, and experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our detoxification and recovery team in Mesa, Arizona.
The RN provides direct nursing care to individuals experiencing withdrawal from alcohol and other substances and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment throughout the detoxification process.
The RN works collaboratively with the Medical Director, medical providers, Director of Nursing, clinical staff, Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced behavioral healthcare environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and has a genuine desire to help individuals begin their recovery journey with dignity and compassion.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesNursing & Client Care
- Provide direct nursing care to clients receiving detoxification and withdrawal-management services.
- Complete nursing assessments and reassessments according to facility protocols.
- Obtain and monitor vital signs and other relevant clinical indicators.
- Monitor clients for signs and symptoms of alcohol and substance withdrawal.
- Recognize changes in client condition and respond appropriately.
- Administer medications according to provider orders and facility policies.
- Monitor medication effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
- Follow established withdrawal-management protocols and provider orders.
- Communicate significant changes in client condition to the appropriate medical provider.
- Provide client education regarding medications, withdrawal, recovery, health, and continuing care.
Admissions
- Participate in the medical and nursing components of the admission process.
- Complete required nursing assessments and documentation.
- Obtain medication histories and review current medications.
- Identify potential medical or psychiatric concerns requiring provider evaluation.
- Communicate with medical providers regarding admission orders and client needs.
- Help ensure clients are medically appropriate for the services available at the facility.
Medication Management
- Administer prescribed medications safely and accurately.
- Maintain appropriate medication documentation and records.
- Complete medication counts and shift-to-shift medication reconciliation as required.
- Maintain appropriate storage and security of medications.
- Identify and report medication discrepancies.
- Follow facility procedures regarding controlled medications.
- Educate clients regarding prescribed medications when appropriate.
Withdrawal Monitoring
- Monitor clients throughout the detoxification process.
- Complete withdrawal assessments using facility-approved tools and protocols as assigned.
- Recognize signs of worsening withdrawal or medical instability.
- Immediately escalate significant medical concerns to the appropriate provider.
- Initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
- Collaborate with medical providers regarding changes to treatment orders and withdrawal-management plans.
Emergency & Crisis Response
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
- Initiate emergency protocols and provide nursing interventions within scope of practice.
- Coordinate emergency medical services when indicated.
- Participate in behavioral and psychiatric crisis response with the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures and facility protocols.
- Complete required incident and clinical documentation following emergency events.
Documentation
- Complete accurate, timely, and objective nursing documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Document assessments, medication administration, withdrawal monitoring, nursing interventions, provider communication, and changes in client condition.
- Maintain complete and accurate nursing records.
- Participate in chart reviews and quality assurance activities.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable confidentiality requirements.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing nursing staff during shift change.
- Participate in nursing shift reports and client handoffs.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director, providers, Clinical Director, counselors, case managers, BHTs, and operations staff.
- Participate in treatment team meetings when appropriate.
- Assist BHT staff in recognizing circumstances requiring nursing evaluation.
- Maintain professional communication and clear boundaries with clients and coworkers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Arizona or qualifying multistate privilege, as applicable.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to successfully complete required background, fingerprinting, credentialing, and employment requirements.
- Strong nursing assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to safely administer and manage medications.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a 24-hour treatment environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in detoxification or withdrawal management.
- Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience.
- Substance use disorder treatment experience.
- Emergency department, urgent care, inpatient, residential, or other relevant nursing experience.
- Familiarity with alcohol and substance withdrawal protocols.
- Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
Detox or behavioral health experience is strongly preferred; however, qualified RNs with strong clinical skills and an interest in addiction treatment are encouraged to apply.

Schedule
Simple & Serene Detox & Recovery operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
We are hiring for:

Weekend and holiday availability may be required depending on the employee's assigned schedule.
Full-time, part-time, and PRN scheduling opportunities may be available.
