Prevention Specialist – Full-Time
Family Services is seeking a highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment to serve as a full-time Prevention Specialist. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen community partnerships and implement evidence-informed strategies that prevent youth alcohol and drug use across Montgomery County.
The Prevention Specialist will work with school and community coalitions, local leaders, and partner organizations to build prevention capacity, address community-identified needs, and support initiatives that promote healthy youth development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support school and community coalitions in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-informed prevention strategies
- Assist coalitions in using local data to identify priorities, develop action plans, and measure progress
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, municipalities, law enforcement, healthcare providers, youth-serving organizations, and other community stakeholders
- Coordinate and participate in community education, outreach, and prevention campaigns focused on reducing youth substance use
- Facilitate coalition meetings, workgroups, and collaborative planning efforts
- Connect youth, families, and community partners with available prevention resources and support services
- Collaborate with county agencies and community partners to implement environmental prevention strategies and achieve program goals
- Support coalition operations, strategic planning, grant activities, reporting, and continuous quality improvement
Schedule:
This position primarily works daytime hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required for coalition meetings, trainings, and community events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Health, Community Organizing, or a related field preferred
- Experience in community engagement, coalition building, prevention, public health, or related work preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneDrive
- Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000.00 per year
