Job Title: CNC Operator

Reports To: Production Supervisor
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable CNC Operator to operate a Hundegger CNC machine used in the production of precision wood components for roof trusses, wall panels, floor systems, and other structural framing products. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining the machine while ensuring all products meet quality and production standards.
The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, experience operating CNC equipment, and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor a Hundegger CNC machine to manufacture structural wood components.
- Load lumber into the machine and ensure proper material orientation and alignment.
- Read and interpret production drawings, cut lists, blueprints, and work orders.
- Verify machine programs and make adjustments as needed to ensure accurate cuts and machining.
- Perform quality inspections to verify dimensions, cuts, drill holes, notches, and finished products meet specifications.
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot minor operational issues.
- Replace cutting tools and perform routine machine maintenance as required.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Maintain production records and accurately document completed work.
- Work closely with truss designers, supervisors, and production team members to ensure production schedules are met.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Assist with material handling and staging of finished components when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous CNC machine operation experience preferred.
- Experience operating a Hundegger, Weinmann, or similar CNC woodworking machine is highly preferred.
- Experience in truss, panel, timber frame, or structural wood manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, production drawings, and technical specifications.
- Basic computer skills for machine controls and production software.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to wood dust, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment if trained and certified.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating Hundegger K2, Speed-Cut, Robot Drive, Turbo Drive, or similar CNC equipment.
- Knowledge of truss manufacturing and structural framing components.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM production software.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
- Preventive maintenance and machine troubleshooting skills.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
