Job Overview
We are seeking a Front/Back Office Medical Assistant who is mature,reliable, conscientious, outgoing, friendly, helpful, detail-oriented, and who has a great work ethic, to join our wonderful, easy-going, solo, part-time cardiology practice. The ideal candidate will also be willing and able to occasionally help out with back office duties. Hours M-T-TH 8:30-5:00, W 8:30-3:00.
In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Your familiarity with medical administrative support, medical records management, insurance authorization and verification, experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, manual blood pressure monitoring, EKG, etc. will be essential to streamline office operations.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and phone etiquette
- Verify insurance coverage, help in obtaining prior authorizations, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing inquiries using our EMR System, Dr.Chrono. (will train)
- Schedule appointments.
- Manage medical records and documentation review processes, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate record-keeping
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Support medical coding activities by understanding CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and medical terminology for accurate billing and documentation
- Back up support for back office duties such as EKG, blood pressure, monitoring devices, and treadmill patient preparation
Skills
- 3+ year experience in a medical office/healthcare setting with background in reception and administration, preferably in cardiology and/or internal medicine. Back office skills a plus.
- Strong knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures including insurance verification and CPT/ICD coding
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff and return calls in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of health information.
- Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong customer service orientation combined with professional, friendly phone etiquette and clerical experience.
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
