Compost Sales Representative

We are a Northern California compost and organics company dedicated to providing premium compost, soil amendments, and landscape products to contractors, vineyards, municipalities, landscapers, nurseries, agricultural operations, and homeowners. We are looking for a motivated sales professional to expand our customer base throughout Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Solano, and surrounding North Bay markets.
Position Summary
The Compost Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business, managing existing customer relationships, and growing sales throughout the North Bay territory. This is primarily an outside sales role focused on building long-term relationships with commercial customers while providing exceptional service to residential clients.
The ideal candidate understands consultative selling, enjoys spending time in the field, and is comfortable educating customers on the benefits of quality compost and soil products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business throughout the North Bay and Napa Valley.
- Maintain and grow existing customer accounts.
- Call on:
- Landscape contractors
- Vineyards and wineries
- Nurseries and garden centers
- Municipal agencies
- General contractors
- Property managers
- Agricultural customers
- Meet customers on job sites to recommend appropriate products.
- Prepare quotations and follow proposals through closing.
- Coordinate deliveries with dispatch and operations.
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline using CRM software.
- Achieve monthly and annual sales goals.
- Attend trade shows, grower meetings, and networking events.
- Educate customers on compost applications, soil health, erosion control, and sustainable landscaping practices.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Provide market intelligence regarding competitors, pricing, and emerging opportunities.
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of outside B2B sales experience
- Valid California Driver's License
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently in the field
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, CRM software)
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs when demonstrating products or handling samples

- Landscape supply

- Nursery sales
- Fertilizers or soil amendments
- Heavy equipment rental
- Building materials
Knowledge of compost products is a plus but not required—we will train the right candidate.

- Northern Contra Costa County (as needed)
Travel within the territory is required.

Pay: $55,348.41 - $66,656.16 per year
