Duties
- Diagnose issues with small engines, including carburetor problems, electrical faults, and mechanical failures
- Perform repairs on various equipment such as lawnmowers, generators, and other outdoor power equipment
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug replacements, and belt adjustments to keep equipment in top condition
- Use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical systems repair techniques to complete repairs efficiently
- Perform heavy lifting, manual handling, and equipment repair procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain minimal service records for each repair or maintenance task performed for quality control and customer transparency
Skills
- Mechanically inclined, experienced mechanic or service technician background in small engine or equipment repair
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in engine repair, gasoline engines, and power generation systems
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers
- Understanding of small business reputation, honesty, trust with customers, fair price for fair work and customer needs
- Ability to read technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience with automotive repair techniques applicable to small engines and heavy machinery
- Familiarity with equipment troubleshooting across various brands such as John Deere, Craftsman, Husqvarna, Briggs and Stratton, Kohler or similar machinery
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment maintenance procedures
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling involved in parts replacement or equipment servicing
