Job Summary
Join a small team to contribute as a high school mentor, where you will play a vital role in empowering students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Enjoy all district breaks/holidays off (Summer break, Fall break, Winter break, Thanksgiving, Spring, etc). Looking to hire effective July 20th for the 2026-2027 school year. Must be comfortable supporting students with English curriculum and also comfortable performing virtual meetings with students.
Duties
- Build trusting relationships with high school students by offering mentorship, encouragement, and active listening.
- Assist students with academic tasks/interventions in English.
- Support students by setting weekly goals and constant check-ins.
- Collaborate with director, teachers, counselors, and families to develop personalized support plans that address individual student needs.
- Hold weekly virtual meetings with remote students to help foster good communication and support.
- Communicate with families regarding excessive absences and creating a game plan to support students.
- Monitor student progress and document observations to inform ongoing support strategies.
- Keep data tracking tools up to date with student performance.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and community engagement.
- Attend monthly Professional Development performed by our Charter.
- A commitment to working a Monday-Thursday shift (Flexible Fridays) from 8am-3:15pm.
Skills
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational setting.
- Strong mentoring abilities with a compassionate approach to at-risk youth.
- Excellent conflict management skills to de-escalate challenging situations constructively.
- Ability to assist in academics that pertain to English and/or Math.
- Ability to teach life skills, social skills, and emotional regulation strategies effectively.
- Must be able to perform virtual meetings with students and communicate with parents when needed.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams including educators, parents, and mental health professionals.
- CPR/First aid and FEMA certifications are required (will provide time to complete certifications during the first week of employment).
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
