Dental Assistant (Cross-Trained)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Dental Assistant to join our team in a dual-capacity role in assisting and front office operations. The ideal candidate communicates with warmth and professionalism, and is comfortable seamlessly transitioning between assisting duties and administrative responsibilities.
Clinical Responsibilities include
- Assist the dentist/specialist during oral medicine procedures, including biopsies and intraoral photagraphy
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take dental impressions and pour models
Front Office Responsibilities include
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing the clinical calendar efficiently
- Greet and check in patients, verify Medicare insurance eligibility, and collect payments
- Handle billing inquiries, and submit pre-authorizations as needed
- Coordinate referrals to and from specialists
- Request/send records
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and care
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Dental Assistant certification (RDA or CDA)
- Experience with dental impressions and pouring models is a plus
- Front office or administrative dental experience a plus
- Proficiency with electronic medical/dental systems
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills
