Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Daycare Assistant to support the daily care and development of young children in a nurturing environment. This role involves assisting lead teachers in implementing educational activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and fostering a positive classroom atmosphere. Duties
- Assist with supervising children during play, learning activities, and mealtime to ensure safety and engagement
- Support classroom management by helping maintain a structured and positive environment
- Help implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote childhood development
- Provide basic caregiving tasks such as diapering, feeding, and comforting children as needed
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by following individualized plans and accommodations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom and play areas
- Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and needs for communication with lead teachers and parents
- Assist with arrival and departure routines to ensure smooth transitions for children and families
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols including first aid procedures when necessary
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or classroom settings is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices is highly desirable
- Experience with infants, toddlers, or children with special needs or disabilities is a plus
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Certification in first aid or CPR is advantageous but not required; willingness to obtain certification is expected
- Previous involvement in caregiving roles such as babysitting or caregiving for children with diverse needs will be considered an asset
