Psychiatric Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)
MedGlobal Home Health Care is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) to provide skilled behavioral health nursing services to patients in their homes.
This position is ideal for an RN with psychiatric/behavioral health experience who enjoys working independently and helping patients remain safely in the community while managing chronic or acute psychiatric conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled psychiatric nursing visits in patients' homes
- Complete psychiatric and mental-status assessments
- Assess changes in mood, behavior, cognition, and psychiatric symptoms
- Provide medication education, assessment, and compliance/adherence teaching
- Monitor effectiveness and adverse effects of psychiatric medications
- Assess patient safety, including risk of self-harm or harm to others
- Provide patient and caregiver education regarding psychiatric diagnoses and treatment plans
- Identify changes in condition and communicate with physicians/providers
- Assist with crisis prevention and management
- Develop and follow individualized plans of care
- Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation
- Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, social workers, caregivers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Follow Medicare, agency, and regulatory requirements for home health services
Qualifications
Required:
- Current, unrestricted Texas RN license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance
- Psychiatric/behavioral health nursing experience
- Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in the home health setting
Psychiatric experience should meet one of the following:
- BSN: At least 1 year of recent psychiatric nursing experience
- Associate Degree or Diploma RN: At least 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience
- Master's Degree specializing in psychiatric/mental health nursing: Psychiatric nursing experience
Relevant experience may include psychiatric hospitals/units, psychiatric home health, partial hospitalization programs, or outpatient psychiatric services.
Recent psychiatric experience within the last 3 years is strongly preferred.
Preferred:
- Previous home health experience
- OASIS experience
- Medicare home health experience
- Medical/surgical nursing experience
- Experience caring for patients with both psychiatric and medical diagnoses
Schedule
Flexible/PRN opportunities available based on patient census and geographic coverage.
