Department: World Languages Teacher (Elementary School/Preschool Co-teacher)

General Purpose and Function:
The World Language Teacher teaches preschool through 2 and is a collaborative member of the World Language Cohort Team (Preschool -Grade 8). The successful candidate will cultivate an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that reaches every student based on their individual learning style and strengths. Using multiple teaching techniques, the World Language teacher engages students to progress in their proficiency of speaking/communicating, listening, reading, and writing. The teacher creates a dynamic classroom and promotes cultural immersion.
This is a full-time, exempt position. During the school year, the teacher will be expected to be on campus from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, presence and participation are expected during weekly faculty meetings on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Presence and participation is required before and after the school year for opening and closing weeks.
Responsibilities:
Teaching
- To ensure curricular alignment with best practices in teaching Culture and language.
- To establish goals and innovative assessments based on school and national proficiency standards for World Languages.
- To utilize effective teaching methods in immersing students in culture and language within the classroom.
- To integrate technology as a powerful tool for learning in the World Language classroom, including use of Google tools for collaboration and communication.
- To teach remote and hybrid students when necessary.
- To build positive and meaningful relationships with students through instruction and community-wide activities.
- To facilitate an engaging and student-centered learning experience.
- To provide students cultural experiences and showcase their knowledge.
- To communicate effectively and proactively with parents regarding student performance
- To collaborate with other teachers across subject areas.
- To work with the Founder, Principal, Curriculum teams, cohort teachers to construct curriculum maps and grade-level objectives and ensure their realization.
- To actively seek out professional development opportunities to enhance the teaching craft and remain current on best practices.
Advising
- To actively engage in the Elementary School advising program
- To work with and support student advisees in their academic and character development
Other Duties
- To participate in coaching athletics, House System, or other extra-curricular activities
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal of the School.
- To assist with other school-wide duties, including field trips and Adventure trips.
- To actively participate in World Language Department and Full Faculty meetings.
Pay: $32.60 - $35.26 per hour
