POSITION OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE:
The Shipping and Paint Supervisor leads daily Shipping and Paint department operations to ensure safe work practices, consistent paint quality, efficient material flow, accurate shipments, and on-time customer delivery. This position reports to the Production Manager. Direct reports include: all Shipping and Paint personnel.
Essential Functions:
· Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work for Shipping and Paint team members; monitor workflow and communicate objectives through daily huddles.
· Supervise products being painted, handled, staged, loaded, and shipped safely, accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer specifications and company quality standards.
· Coordinate truck schedules, carrier activity, staging, loading, finished goods inventory flow, paint schedules, equipment needs, staffing, and production priorities.
· Verify shipping documentation, support inventory accuracy, and reduce shipping errors, freight damage, paint defects, rework, and waste.
· Monitor coating quality, color consistency, curing process, paint thickness, paint inventory, related consumables, and paint equipment condition.
· Collaborate with other department leaders to improve communication, material flow, schedule compliance, and customer delivery.
· Establish and maintain standards and procedures for Shipping and Paint processes, documentation, and accountability.
· Lead, coach, train, cross-train, evaluate, and develop employees while supporting onboarding, engagement, accountability, and performance management.
· Promote a zero-incident safety culture by enforcing safety guidelines, OSHA requirements, forklift safety expectations, environmental requirements, PPE use, daily safety observations, and 5S housekeeping.
· Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve workflow, labor efficiency, productivity, department KPIs, overtime, scrap reduction, and waste elimination.
· Support The Mesker Way, FUNdamentals, and a team-oriented environment where team members are seen, heard, and connected.
· Remain available for the duration of the production shift and perform other duties as assigned.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs):
· Safety: OSHA recordables, near miss reporting, safety audit score, forklift safety, and environmental compliance.
· Quality: Paint defects, shipping accuracy, customer claims, rework, and inventory accuracy.
· Delivery: On-time delivery, shipping schedule compliance, and trailer utilization.
· Cost: Freight cost, paint material usage, labor efficiency, overtime, and scrap reduction.
· People: Employee attendance, cross-training completion, performance reviews, and employee development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· May be required to lift to 75 pounds repetitively (assisted), 25 pounds (unassisted), push and/or pull carts up to 75 pounds.
· Must use and be able to work with required PPE, stand for long periods of time, and work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
· The noise level of the warehouse is moderate to loud.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Prior supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
· Experience in shipping, warehouse, production, paint, or manufacturing operations required.
· Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft 365 applications
· Ability to coach, train, hold team members accountable, and manage priorities across departments.
· Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions and standard work tickets.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, must demonstrate basic problem-solving skills, and maintain good organizational skills related to managing paperwork and time.
Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
