About Us
Atelier Tutors provides high-quality, concierge-style academic support through one-on-one tutoring for students in grades K–12 and beyond. Most of our tutoring is in person and takes place in students’ homes.
We work with outstanding educators, including credentialed teachers, PhD students, experienced tutors, and subject-matter experts. Our tutors are knowledgeable, reliable, excellent communicators, and genuinely enjoy working with children and teenagers. They are also trusted partners to parents and are able to provide thoughtful, professional academic support tailored to each student’s needs.
What We Are Looking For
We are currently hiring for the 2026–27 school year. We are interested in applicants with meaningful teaching or tutoring experience and a strong track record of working with students. We welcome applications across all subjects, but we are especially seeking experienced in-person tutors and educators for:
- Pre-K through 5th Grade: Common Core curriculum, reading, writing, math, homework support, enrichment
- Math: Algebra 1 through AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics
- Executive Function Coaching:Planning, organization, time management, study methods, and academic accountability
- Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, especially at the AP-level
- History: AP World History, AP European History, AP U.S. History
- English and Writing: Essay support, writing mechanics, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and AP English Language and Literature
- Languages:French, Spanish, Latin (including AP levels)
- AP Environmental Science
- Economics: AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, college-level economics
For grades K–5, we strongly prefer credentialed classroom teachers and seasoned teaching assistants. However, we will consider applicants with substantial tutoring experience, provided they are deeply familiar with one or more K–5 curricula, academic standards, and the developmental needs of younger students.
Locations
- Our clients primarily request in-person sessions in their homes across Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Venice, Brentwood, West LA, Cheviot Hills, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Hancock Park.
- We also occasionally receive requests in the East and West San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Malibu, Topanga, and the South Bay.
Required Education / Experience
Applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree
- At least 2 years of relevant teaching or tutoring experience
- Familiarity with California K–12 standards
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Strongly Preferred
- Advanced degree
- Teaching Credentials
- Professional classroom teaching experience
- Experience working with high-achieving students, students with learning differences, or students needing executive function support
Pay Range
The rates below are starting rates and depend on experience and subject area.
- General subjects: starting at $65/hr
- AP and college-level subjects: starting at $75/hr
- K–5 credentialed classroom teachers: starting at $75/hr
- General subjects: starting at $55/hr
- AP and college-level subjects: starting at $65/hr
For truly exceptional, highly experienced educators, we are open to premium rates above the ranges listed here.
Prep time and drive time are NOT compensated.
Status / Work Structure
- All tutors are independent contractors who work for themselves and set their own hours.
- Tutors let us know the subjects and grade levels they are comfortable teaching, as well as their geographic areas and availability. We then match tutors with appropriate clients as requests come in.
- Sessions typically take place after school, in the evenings, or on weekends.
- We cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours.
