Duties
- Safely operate a variety of trucks including front loader, rear loader, roll-off, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers to load and transport waste materials.
- Load and unload debris using front-end loaders or manual lifting techniques, ensuring proper handling of hazardous or bulky materials in compliance with safety regulations.
- Drive route-specific trucks following DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, and traffic laws to ensure timely waste collection.
- Maintain vehicle safety by conducting pre-trip inspections.
- Collect Debris from residential neighborhoods or commercial sites while providing friendly customer service and addressing client inquiries professionally.
- Follow solid waste management procedures and hazardous materials regulations when handling special waste types.
- Document all pickups accurately in logs or digital systems, ensuring compliance with municipal waste management standards.
Skills
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, flatbeds, or tractor-trailers.
- Solid knowledge of heavy lifting techniques combined with outdoor work experience to handle bulky waste safely.
- Familiarity with traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazard materials regulations, and state transportation rules for safe route driving.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting of garbage trucks and related equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting while maintaining physical stamina throughout the workday.
