Have self-motivation to perform and prioritize tasks, and be comfortable reading medical records to determine and carry out treatment plans. Experience with anesthesia monitoring required. Job Basics:
Full-time (40 hrs/week), worked four ten-hour shifts, with a consistent schedule every week. Part-time applicants will be considered, no less than two shifts per week. Competitive salary, dependent on experience, feline skill set, and license status. $26-30/hr for Licensed RVT
The practice is closed on weekends and all major holidays (paid if you are scheduled to work). We work 8 am-6 pm, with an hour-long lunch break from 12:30-1:30, at which time the front door is locked. In addition to an uninterrupted lunch, you will get two 10-minute breaks during the day. We leave between 6:00 and 6:10 pm 99.9% of the time.
About Us:
We are a small, close-knit team of 2 doctors and several ancillary staff that have been together for years. We strongly believe in maintaining a no-drama workplace and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. There’s a LOT of laughing! The owner/managers believe that happy staff is the gateway to a successful practice, so we select our next team-members carefully and seek those that will gel with the rest of the team.
We strive to create a boutique practice feel for our clients, forging close bonds with them and their cats. Overall, our clientele is incredibly kind and friendly, and they expect and approve a high level of medical care. Since Covid, we have kept an approximately 6 month waiting list for new clients. We are a Gold-status AAFP Cat-Friendly Practice and work hard to ensure our patients are comfortable. Our facility is fully equipped with digital technology, and we have a great working relationship with local specialists.
What this job IS:
-Assisting DVMs in appointments, performing technician appointments (lab sample collections, blood pressure measurements, weight checks, SQ fluids, medication administration, nail trims, etc).
-Occasional surgery duties assisting or monitoring anesthesia. We are not a surgery-heavy practice; our procedures are mostly dental and occasionally include spay/neuter/mass removal.
-Filling prescriptions
-Answering client communications (phone/email/text message).
-Maintaining a clean work environment
What this job IS NOT:
-High volume. We see clients by appointment only, and appointments are 30 minutes long. There are no walk-ins, and true emergencies are rare. Drop-offs other than for surgical or diagnostic procedures are uncommon and are by DVM approval only. We do not keep patients in the clinic overnight. However, this doesn’t mean we are slow. Efficiency is important, but we make sure to take the time to do things carefully and well. Our motto for success is quality over quantity.
-Surgery/anesthesia focused. Our most common procedures are dentals, and we usually schedule only one procedure per day. Most dentals are not just a cleaning and have multiple extractions, which the DVM performs.
-Management opportunity. One of our practice owners take interest in the administration duties of vet med and has a schedule that allows time to address them properly.
