Shift: Night & Mid-Shift Coverage (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM & 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM float)
Job Overview
Jefferson Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Technologist (MT / MLS) to join our clinical laboratory team. In this role, you will perform moderate to high-complexity laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens with minimal supervision. You will maintain lab instruments, adhere to strict quality control (QC) protocols, troubleshoot equipment, and support phlebotomy needs to deliver accurate, timely patient results.

Key Responsibilities
- Lab Testing: Perform moderate and high-complexity clinical laboratory tests accurately and efficiently; report results with precise documentation.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Execute daily QC procedures, analyze data, troubleshoot out-of-range results, and assist with proficiency testing for lab accreditation.
- Instrument Maintenance: Perform function checks, routine preventative maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Patient Care Support: Perform phlebotomy duties and collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens as needed.
- Safety & Collaboration: Follow all Laboratory Safety Plans and PPE protocols. Communicate effectively with supervisors, care teams, and peers regarding critical results and instrument status.
- Support training of new staff/students and perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and comply with facility policies.
Qualifications & Requirements (Strictly Required)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science required OR
- Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW) required
- 0-2 years of acute care experience required
Licenses & Certifications:
- ASCP - Medical Technologist required OR
- Medical Laboratory Technologist (AMT) required OR
- Medical Laboratory Technologist (AAB) required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of high-complexity laboratory testing, QC protocols, and safety regulations.
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and accurate record-keeping.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical equipment issues.
- Strong organization, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of population-specific competencies across diverse patient demographics.
