PRN Opportunities for EMT and Paramedic in Parsons and Neodesha
Summary:
Administers life support care to sick and injured persons under the direction of a paramedic in pre-hospital setting as permitted and authorized by State of Kansas KBEMS and local protocol approved by Medical Staff.
Essential Functions
- Performs all the authorized activities as described in K.S.A. 65-6119 and amendments thereto.;
- Determines appropriate facility to which patient will be transported, report nature and extent of injuries or illness to that facility, ask for direction from hospital physician or emergency department;
- Observes patient en-route and administers care as directed by physician or emergency department standing orders;
- Identifies diagnostic signs that require communication with facility;
- Assists in removing patient from ambulance and into emergency facility;
- Reports verbally and in writing observations about care of patient at the scene and en-route to facility, provide assistance to emergency staff as required;
- Maintains all emergency vehicles and equipment in a state of readiness at all times, ensures the cleanliness and readiness of vehicles, equipment and facilities;
- Attends departmental training sessions;
- Maintains appropriate records and reports;
- Provides mutual aid service to other county departments as well as other jurisdictions;
- Operates radio and other communication equipment;
- Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of the facilities and equipment; cleans the offices, classrooms, bathroom, emergency vehicles and equipment, ambulance bays and storage areas as needed; utilizes proper decontaminating procedures as indicated; cares for grounds around station; make minor repairs, washes, hangs and dries clothing and items
Qualifications:
- Maintain a current EMT/MICT certification.
- One to two years experience in EMS service desired.
- Requires CPR, PALS, ACLS and PHTLS
- Valid driver's license, with good driving record
- If you do not have ACLS/PALS; you can enroll in the next available class at Labette Health.
