The CDL-A Driver role is one of the most visible in the company — on the road and with the customers we serve.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced, customer-ready CDL-A Driver to join our operations team. This is not a standard delivery route. You will operate a Class A vehicle hauling high-value stone slabs, coordinate Boston-area transfer runs, support local supplier pickups, and represent Stone Showcase directly to our customers — including operating as a mobile showroom ambassador in the field. Professionalism, physical capability, and outstanding customer communication are as important as driving skill.
Primary Responsibilities
Mobile Showroom & Customer Interaction
- Operate a curated mobile showroom vehicle, transporting slab samples, literature, and product displays to customer appointments.
- Greet customers and design professionals in the field; present available inventory with confidence and product knowledge.
- Coordinate scheduling with the sales team to align showroom visits with customer timelines.
- Maintain the mobile showroom vehicle’s interior to a showroom standard at all times.
- Collect customer feedback, business cards, or inquiry forms and relay to sales/management promptly.
Local Supplier & Material Pickups
- Conduct scheduled and on-demand pickups from local stone suppliers, ports, and distribution hubs.
- Verify material against purchase orders; flag discrepancies before departure from the supplier.
- Handle high-value natural and engineered stone slabs with care; document any pre-existing damage on the pickup form.
- Maintain vendor relationships professionally; you represent Stone Showcase at every pickup location.
Boston Transfer Operations
- Execute scheduled slab transfers between Stone Showcase facilities and the Boston market, including coordinating with receiving teams on arrival sequencing.
- Maintain on-time performance across early-morning or overnight transfer windows.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and document load configuration before each run.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding traffic, site conditions, or delays.
General Slab Delivery Support
- Assist the delivery team on standard customer-site slab deliveries using flatbed and specialty vehicles.
- Operate slab-handling equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, boom trucks, vacuum lifters) safely and within company procedure.
- Confirm positive restraint on every load before departure — no exceptions.
- Apply the company’s Green/Yellow/Red weather decision matrix; call a hold when Red conditions exist or are anticipated.
- Complete arrival assessments and fall-zone controls at every customer site per SS-SAF-002.
