ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support, maintain, and continuously improve the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with all applicable certifications and standards.
- Maintain existing accreditations and support implementation of new certifications as required.
- Lead and support internal, external, and third-party audits, ensuring audit readiness and effective closure of findings.
- Maintain and control quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and records.
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on reducing variation, improving process capability, and eliminating waste.
- Apply quality tools including root cause analysis, SPC, MSA, and capability studies to drive measurable improvements.
- Develop, implement, and sustain control plans and corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Work closely with production to resolve day-to-day internal quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Investigate scrap, rework, and non-conforming product; lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Support casting process improvements related to materials, methods, and product consistency.
- Own and drive supplier quality performance, including supplier evaluations, corrective actions, development activities, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive long-term improvements in quality and delivery performance.
- Analyze quality data and trends to identify systemic issues and proactively drive improvements.
- Support new product introductions and process changes to ensure quality requirements are met and risks are mitigated.
- Act as a primary internal quality leader, independently managing priorities, driving initiatives, and ensuring accountability across departments.
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Leadership to improve processes, systems, and product outcomes.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for customer quality matters as needed, supporting issue resolution and technical discussions.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure readiness for all quality system audits
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Technical school training in quality and/or related courses.
- Experience in Quality required, including experience with ISO 9000 and IATF 16949.
- Experience in programming CMM (PC-DMIS) preferred.
- Experience in Romer Arm inspecting preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Must have, or be able to gain, competency on various computer applications, including MS Office, PC-DMIS (CMM), Geomagic & Polyworks (Romer), Spectro software, Tensile tester software.
- Must have, or be able to fain, competency in operating metallurgical testing equipment (spectrometer, tensile tester, etc.).
- Must be willing to learn and/or be trained on the following:
- Gage operation and maintenance.
- Casting design and processes.
