Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Optical Lab Technician to join our team. The Optical Lab Technician is responsible for producing high-quality prescription eyewear by accurately processing, edging, mounting, inspecting, and repairing eyeglass lenses. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision, maintains a clean and organized work environment, and works collaboratively with the optical staff to ensure outstanding customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and verify optical prescriptions and work orders.
- Operate lens edging, blocking, drilling, polishing, and finishing equipment.
- Mount lenses into a variety of frame styles, including full-rim, semi-rimless, and rimless frames.
- Inspect completed eyewear to ensure prescription accuracy, proper alignment, cosmetic quality, and overall workmanship.
- Troubleshoot and resolve lens and frame issues before delivery.
- Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and replacements as needed.
- Maintain laboratory equipment by performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Monitor inventory of lenses, frames, lab supplies, and consumables.
- Follow all quality control procedures and safety standards.
- Work closely with opticians and management to prioritize jobs and meet turnaround times.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and any remakes.
- Keep the optical laboratory clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as an Optical Lab Technician a must.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic lenses, frame materials, and lens coatings.
- Experience operating optical laboratory equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills.
