Provision Pharmacy is a hybrid community & long-term care pharmacy in the San Diego area seeking a licensed relief pharmacist to join our team on a PRN (as-needed) basis.
We focus is on providing medication management services to residents of long-term care facilities. If you enjoy a clinical, collaborative environment without the retail counter, this is a great fit.
This is a flexible, per-diem position ideal for pharmacists looking to supplement their schedule. Shifts are typically scheduled 2–4 weeks in advance for planned coverage such as vacations. Occasionally, same-day coverage requests may come up due to illness — availability for these is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Verify and check prescription orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance
- Perform final verification of medications packaged for LTC facilities (e.g., blister packs, unit-dose)
- Review drug interactions, allergies, and dosing appropriateness
- Communicate with facility staff, nurses, and prescribers regarding medication orders and clarifications
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure compliance with California Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Support day-to-day pharmacy operations as needed
Requirements:
- Active California pharmacist license in good standing
- Ability to work independently and step into workflow with minimal ramp-up
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Long-term care or closed-door pharmacy experience preferred
- DigitalRx experience is a plus
Schedule: PRN / as-needed, weekdays only. Shifts generally scheduled 2–4 weeks out, with occasional same-day requests.
Pay: $65–$75 per hour, depending on experience
