Interim System Director of Pharmacy (Pharmacist-in-Charge) – Bozeman, MT

We are seeking an experienced Interim System Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead hospital and retail pharmacy operations for a 26-week contract in Bozeman, MT. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee pharmacy services, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead major strategic initiatives, including 340B program optimization and ambulatory infusion expansion.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for hospital and retail pharmacy operations.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Manage daily pharmacy operations, staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, CMS standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Oversee pharmacy budgets, drug utilization, inventory management, and formulary optimization.
- Maintain compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> standards.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including Third-Party Administrator (TPA) software implementation.
- Oversee split-billing configuration, NDC mapping, compliance monitoring, and audit readiness.
- Support the expansion of ambulatory infusion services, including sterile compounding compliance and workflow development.
- Collaborate with nursing, finance, compliance, facilities, and executive leadership to improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Track key performance indicators, regulatory readiness, pharmacy productivity, and financial performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license or eligibility for Montana licensure by reciprocity before the start date.
- Minimum 5 years of acute care hospital pharmacy leadership experience at the Director or Assistant Director level.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Director or Pharmacist-in-Charge preferred.
- Proven experience managing a 340B Program, including at least one full TPA software implementation.
- Experience overseeing sterile compounding or ambulatory infusion center expansion projects.
- Strong knowledge of USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, CMS regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Epic EMR experience preferred.
- BLS certification required.
