We are growing — fast — and we’re looking for a driven Field Service Technician to join our boots-on-the-ground team of professionals.
Position Summary
The Engineering Field Service Technician plays a critical role in collecting, analyzing, and validating electrical system data in the field. This position supports electrical power system studies, IR inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and safety programs at client facilities across the country. Technicians in this role work closely with other field service personnel, Senior Power Systems Technicians, and the VP of Operations to deliver accurate, efficient, and safe results.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Data Collection & Inspections
- Perform comprehensive electrical data collection (one-lines, breaker/fuse settings, equipment ratings, conductor details, transformer information, etc.)
- Conduct infrared thermography inspections following established EPSCO 70B IR protocols
- Assist engineers with arc-flash studies, coordination studies, and short-circuit data gathering
- Document and photograph equipment per EPSCO standards for accuracy and completeness
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain full adherence to EPSCO’s safety culture
- Work in compliance with NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, OSHA, and facility-specific safety requirements
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inspection of PPE, IR equipment, test tools, and meters
- Participate in JHAs, tailboard meetings, and hazard assessments
Technical Support
- Support Field Engineering Data Collection during large projects, shutdowns, and outage-based data collection
- Assist with labeling equipment, verifying system configurations, and validating engineering deliverables
- Communicate field findings clearly with the engineering team to support accurate studies
Professionalism & Client Engagement
- Serve as an on-site representative of EPSCO with professionalism and integrity
- Communicate effectively with clients about progress, safety, and findings
- Provide recommendations based on observed deficiencies or safety concerns
QualificationsRequired
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Experience working in industrial or commercial electrical environments
- Ability to read electrical one-lines, panel schedules, and equipment nameplates
- Proficient in using meters, IR cameras, and basic diagnostic equipment
- Comfortable traveling nationwide (50%+)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in elevated, tight, or hot environments
Preferred
- 2–5 years of electrical field experience (apprentice, journeyman, maintenance tech, etc.)
- Experience with infrared thermography (Level I or II certification a plus)
- Experience with NFPA 70E / OSHA procedures
- Familiarity with SKM, EasyPower, or similar study software
- Military electrical/technical background
