POSITION TITLE: Family Services Coordinator II
REPORTS TO: Family Service Coordinator Team Leader
POSITION OVERVIEW: To provide case management services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in a team setting. To provide crisis intervention to adults and children who have witnessed and/or have been physically, verbally, emotionally or sexually abused. To provide individual advocacy and community referrals as well as facilitate support/education groups. This is a 40 hour full time position.
RELATIONSHIPS: Interacts with participants, all community agencies, other Sunrise staff, volunteers and interns.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
· Provides advocacy, crisis interventions, and assessment for families in shelter
· Provide participants with access to community services such as housing, food stamps, transportation, medical needs etc. as indicated.
· Make community referrals regarding medical, legal, psychological and social factors, as needed.
· Works with victim to assess their own needs, develop and implement individualized service plan and support their progress in conjunction with other Shelter team members.
· Review service plans and perform follow-up to determine quality and quantity of services provided.
· Facilitate psycho-educational groups for parents and children as indicated.
· Maintain and compile records and prepare reports. Maintain daily and monthly written reports/statistics as required.
· Shelter policies, rules and guidelines.
· Provides transportation to victims as necessary.
· Develop and update safety plans for participants and children.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Shelter Services.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
· Make community education/awareness presentations as requested.
· Assess children of victims and refer for counseling as indicated.
· Facilitate psycho-educational support groups for Sunrise participants.
· Review law enforcement reports on domestic violence to identify families and victims with children.
PROHIBITED FUNCTIONS:
· Does not respond to requests from the media.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Minimum 2 years experience working with families in a crisis environment, preferable in a domestic violence program setting or, 3 years experience in related human services field – preferably domestic violence program setting.
· Independent, self-motivated and assertive individual with the ability to establish a positive relationship with parents and children from dysfunctional families.
· Must possess excellent communication skills.
· Must possess strong problem solving skills.
· Experience working with victims is preferred.
· Must have solid knowledge of community resources and the ability to maintain a cordial working relationship with other agencies.
· Must possess ability to function independently while working cooperatively as a member of a team.
· Must be able to interact in a professional manner with members of other agencies.
· Must pass screening by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
· Must be able to work with a culturally diverse community with sensitivity and professionalism.
