Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled, motivated Certified Professional Coder to work in our Dermatology practice. This is an onsite position, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Review documentation of each office visit or procedure to ensure CPT codes, modifiers and diagnoses are correct. Required to code in compliance with all laws, regulations, standards, and policy requirements.
Responsibilities·
- Processes claims, assessing progress notes for accuracy of electronic medical record generated codes and submits electronically.
- · Places appropriate modifiers to E&M and CPT codes to ensure payment and decrease denials.
- · Handles insurance denials in a timely manner.
- · Obtains patient estimates for procedures.
- · Handles patient questions regarding charges, services, and clinic policies pertaining to billing.
- · Maintains proficiency with all billing and coding rules and regulations.
- · Willing to be cross trained and assist in other duties such as scheduling.
- · Quarterly compliance audits
- · Complete webinars and education to stay up to date with current coding guidelines
- ·Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple records efficiently.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- · CPC or CPCD Certification
- Proven understanding of explanation of benefits form, claim form, and the insurance billing process.
- Working knowledge of commercial insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Proven understanding of CPT coding and ICD-10 coding.
- Medical terminology
- · Dermatology coding experience a plus
- · At least 2 years of coding/billing experience preferred
- · Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Computer knowledge and typing skills.
- · Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- High School Diploma
