Position Summary
The Youth Soccer Head Coach is responsible for leading the development and performance of assigned academy teams while fostering a positive learning environment. The coach will plan and conduct training sessions, coach games and tournaments, evaluate players, communicate effectively with families, and collaborate with club leadership to ensure the continued success of the program.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Player Development
- Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions throughout the season.
- Coach all scheduled league games, tournaments, showcases, and club events.
- Develop players technically, tactically, physically, and mentally.
- Create age-appropriate training environments that prioritize long-term player development.
- Provide positive, constructive feedback to players.
- Make game-day coaching decisions, including formations, substitutions, and tactical adjustments.
Team Management
- Manage assigned team roster.
- Monitor player progress and provide developmental feedback.
- Ensure players understand expectations for practices, games, and club events.
- Coordinate team travel when required.
Communication
- Maintain professional communication with players, parents, and club administration.
- Respond to emails, phone calls, and messages within 48 hours.
- Provide regular updates regarding schedules, player development, and team activities.
Tryout Responsibilities
- Evaluate players during club tryouts.
- Complete player evaluations using PlayMetrics.
- Assist in roster selection.
- Communicate acceptance decisions and next steps to selected families.
Practice & Game Responsibilities
- Arrive at least 20 minutes before every practice.
- Arrive at least 45 minutes before every game or tournament.
- Prepare equipment and field setup.
- Conduct pre-game warmups.
- Maintain an organized and professional training environment.
Player Safety
- Prioritize player health and well-being at all times.
- Follow all emergency procedures.
- Report injuries and incidents within 24 hours.
- Ensure safe, age-appropriate training sessions.
Professional Standards
- Represent Touch Kings FC with professionalism on and off the field.
- Wear official club apparel during all practices and matches.
- Attend required club meetings, coaching education sessions, and staff Zoom meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding player, family, and club information.
- Serve as a positive role model for players and families.
Sportsmanship
- Promote fair play, respect, and integrity.
- Foster an inclusive environment for all players.
- Demonstrate professionalism toward referees, opponents, and spectators.
- Uphold all MSYSA and club policies and codes of conduct.
QualificationsRequired
- Previous youth soccer coaching experience.
- Strong understanding of player development principles.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage parents, players, and team operations professionally.
- Reliable transportation to practices, games, and tournaments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to player safety and positive coaching.
Preferred
- US Soccer Coaching License (Grassroots, D, C, B, or higher).
- Previous academy, travel, or competitive soccer coaching experience.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Experience using PlayMetrics or similar club management software.

Compensation
- Independent Contractor (1099)
- Monthly compensation based on assigned team(s), experience, and responsibilities.
- Performance incentives and tournament bonuses may be available.
- Compensation is tied to attendance, punctuality, and fulfillment of coaching responsibilities.
Schedule
- Evening training sessions during the week.
- Weekend league games and tournaments.
- Staff meetings and coaching education sessions as scheduled.
- Seasonal camps, clinics, and tryouts.
